James Purdy
Memento Mori 1914-2009

James PurdyI was contacted by John Uecker to create a website for the burried American literary titan, James Purdy.  Mr. Uecker had got my name from Nathaniel Siegel.  I had met Nathaneil through the Leslie Lohman Gallery in New York, where I had exhibited some years prior after having walked in off the street with my card.  Such is the reach of our spider strands.  I found myself in the company of an angel being blown backwards into the future, and with access to his collection of stories, images and other memorabilia all lovingly digitized and catalogued from the estate of James Purdy. John and I were at the start apprehensive about each other, but we quickly fell into an inspired grove of like-minded collaboration and purpose. Our past can prove to be a challenging new world

The James Purdy memorial website is temporarily down as we upgrade servers and re-register the domain.
